When I fed my ponies this morning I noticed my 19 yr old Welsh Mountain was shaking and trembling down his flank, over his rump and both hind legs. As he started to eat he settled down and when I checked him again he had stopped shaking. He is a little underweight but is on minimal grazing (had lami previously) so gets very excited when I arrive with his breakfast and chases the other pony off, should I just put it down to this or should I be worried??

Very mindful of always trotting the atypical myopathy stories but muscle tremor is one of the signs, keep an eye on colour of urine, any other colic like symptoms or choke like symptoms.

Could be as above but I would say with this weather at the moment he was probably cold and shivering.

What's the weather like where you are?

My pony was absolutely shaking this morning, and stopped when he managed to get his butt to the wind and his head in the hay...and the rain stopped...which is good, because rugging him was going to be an adventure, given his reaction when he saw me coming with that and a leadrope... :)

Dont forget hyperglaceamia for horses which are on too restricted a diet, also it hurts to be hungry and have stomach pain from acid build up, do not underfeed a laminitic just feed it the right stuff. Poor boy
