Just turned 3 in may my arab x saddlebred colt.Still acting very the baby and not rushing but shall i rush and geld him as i want him broken correctly and dont want this to stop his chances due to being a colt. However very laid back never tried to bite kick etc in his life, lives with gelding's and never been near a mare.. what do u reckon???

I think I'd go with marmite on this. If you don't intend to use him being gelded means a much less restricted lifestyle and if you do it before he starts thinking about SEX then he'll never know what he's missed. He's a handsome little chap.

Riding a stallion is sometimes a bit of a pain, you have to be so much more aware of what is going on all the time. Not only do you have to think about your horse and his possible reaction to others but you actually have to think for other people too, because to be honest, some people are either just clueless or plain flaming ignorant around stallions.

Lovely boy, but if you are not planning on using him as a stallion at stud then why even consider keeping him entire??? Get him cut and let him enjoy a normal life and concentrate on his riding career.

I had this dilemma with my tb colt many yrs ago, conflicting advice, was told to leave him entire so he could develop,i listened to my own instincts...
As yours he was perfectly behaved and manners were fab,i had no intentions to breed from him,so didnt see why he should ever feel what it is like to be a MAN

Geld him if you happy with his nature because he will become more testing when he starts to feel his bits

And they fill out and develop just as well without their hormonal pieces

This was just what i was thinking as i dont want to lose the temp i have with him, Consider his BITS gone!!!! Many thanks for your comments. Very much looking forward to starting his little career.
