Another newbie question to do with sizes.
I ordered a pair of extra wide (I have no idea why) boots online and they arrived a couple of days ago but they don't fit. I'm sending them back for a replacement but my calves seem to be in between the two other sizes they have on offer. They have a wide width size 10 that's 41.5cm and a regular width size 9 that has a 39cm calf. They don't have a regular width size 10 but I think I could squeeze into the 9s because the 10s had lots of wiggle room on the foot, a centimetre at the front and lots on the sides of my ankle. Could this be because they're extra wide?
My calves are 40.5cms and 41cms and I read online that boots get slightly looser when you wear them in. Bearing this in mind, shall I go for the smaller size 9s and let them loosen up or go for the size 10s and hope they don't end up like wellies?
For the record, the boots are Rhinegold Olympic Boots with zips and the extra wide boots are for a 43cm calf and they're like buckets! Not sure how much of a difference 1.5cm will make to the fit. They're dirt cheap at £55 and I'll want them to last about 6 months to a year. If I decide to keep riding I'll get an upgrade.
