I was thinking of doing a dresssage test next month and i was just wondering would if help me and my horse?
cause you said flatwork so ill have to do alot and ill have to use a snaffle so shall i give it a go?

Yes, give it a go. Hopefully you'll get a nice judge who makes positive comments and that will help you to work out where your flatwork needs to go.

Yes, why not! You may not see much difference in a month, but it's a great starting point. My horse is ex-BSJA and not a million miles different from your pony. His upside-down neck muscle is vanishing and slowly being replaced by proper topline. And, best of all, his jumping is even better than it was before because he is stronger, more supple and more balanced as a consequence of doing some dressage :)

give it a go, whats the worst that can happen you get a low score so what, riding (certainly at my level) is supposed to be a fun hobby :-)

I would. some people love it, I had dressage lessons for 4 months and really enjoyed them, did a comp, won my class, so thought that was good but the actual competing in dressage is deadly dull to me, the work in-between is good though. You will find your horse much more responsive and relaxed when being ridden in a much better carriage. I love showing :)

Yes deffinately give it a go! Like others have said hopefully you will get a nice judge who will give some positive feedback that you can work on.

The best thing to work on is just getting her really responsive in that snaffle and really listening to you! Get the transitions perfect. And just have fun

I did my first walk trot dressage test just as an outing for my boy who hadnt been before. Now i am hooked and go at least once a month to try and improve on my performance last time :)

Yes, do it! I can't wait go and try my first one - I have an ex-racer and don't think he has been in a school much before, so he is not quite ready yet. He is just starting to ocassionally drop into an outline, although I am not forcing, and he is starting to bend much better - he is great in a straight line, ha ha!!
I hopefully will be looking to do something in the next couple of months, don't want to rush him as racing and just hacking out is all he has known so far, and I'm in no rush - he is with us for life like our last old girl. :)
