Shallow breathing

Can I just say before I begin USUALLY any change in normal breathing of your dog should be treated as a vet emergency and not posted on here! :p I don't want to set a bad example!

So yesterday Flora had me a little concerned, her breathing was pretty shallow, particularly when led down. I was just about to ring the vet in a panic when my common sense kicked in. There was nothing else wrong at all, good colour, no sign of dehydration, perhaps *slightly* quieter than normal but certainly nothing enough to worry me, eating and drinking normally, no temp.
Then I remembered the day before she was playing with Tilly on the drive, she jumped on her back legs up in the air, Tilly then ran under her, flipping her over mid air and she landed horizontal to the ground flat on her side with a hefty thump straight onto concrete  I must say, I can't describe quite how horrendous that was to watch, I immediately felt sick to the stomach, rushed over to help her up, shouting the other dogs to get in, expecting to put her straight in the car and go to the vet with some terrible injury! However she got up and I checked her over, she seemed absolutely fine, not even particualrly shaken!
So I checked her ribs and everything again yesterday, thinking this must be the cause of the shallow breathing. I couldn't (and still can't) produce any wincing, yelps, or anything else from having a good poke and prod. Clearly nothing is broken
I still think this must be the cause though...breathing seems much better today and she is still 100% fine in every way. So I'm thinking bruised ribs that hurt and cause the shallow breathing particularly when led a specific way?!
Just wanted your opinions really. I've obviously been keeping a close eye for any signs of any other problems and will continue to do so. Although she is much better today and the breathing is better (not particularly shallow at all to my mind) I was thinking about giving her a dose of metacam to ease any inflammation and discomfort if she is feeling a bit bruised and sore.

Hmmm...I'm thinking maybe she was bit bruised from the rough and tumble - Max-i-moo is forever doing sumersaults:rolleyes: - and was is hot/humid at yours yesterday? as the heat does make them lethargic and St Sweep certainly starts to breath more shallowly - it is sort of the the step before panting for him.:)

Personally I always give mine arnica for any kind or bruising etc as it can only help. I use the 30c tablets from Boots/health food shop etc for a couple of days.:)

Ah arnica, good plan! Have plenty of that. No it wasn't particularly hot yesterday and shes normally the one of my lot that feels the effects of heat last, its very rare to see her panting whatever she is doing, all the others were fine.

Ets she is always doing daft thigns and she is quite clumsy but this really was a terrible fall, she must have gone straight down on her side from about 2ft in the air. The thud noise was horrendous, how she fell so horizontally without twisting or putting her back end down first or anything I don't know!

Nothing useful to add I'm afraid :p except to say that you know her well (silly vizsla  ) and know her pain threshold (probably very low if Nala is anything to go by  ) so I wouldn't worry too much (she'll soon tell you if something is seriously wrong) and I would just continue keeping an eye on her :)
