Could anyone recommend a good shampoo for the colour of my horse??? I use the champion tails purple one on my little dapple grey but would like a good shampoo for browns. Im just worried about whether a coloured shampoo would alter the lighter colours in his mane ( they are not highlights but part of his colour!! ) or if i got some on his white bits would it stain them???

Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They shouldn't stain him, you just have to rinse VERY well! Try Carr & Day & Martin Dreamcoat, they are in the process of launching small bottles, ie one bottle does one horse for one shampoo, that way you could try without forking out for a big bottle!

Try Mane 'n Tail Moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner, it moisturises well and the conditioner can be left in. Its suitable for both horses and humans - my husband even uses it and we all fight over it. Apparently Jennifer Aniston uses it? Its from the USA but there are a few places over here that stock it.

I use it on my palominos and have fantastic results with keeping the tail white and not much staining on the body with no fading, as the hair keeps the moisture and prevents the dirt being soaked in.

You also need very little of it to get a large lather.

As in my other post tresume deep cleansing shampoo with some equine blue in to take the yellow out - Chancer is left with dazzling white patches and nice dark bay areas and his mane is dazzling white and jet black from the equine blue.

Finish off the mane/tail/forelock/feather with some survivor detangler - brushes out beautifully, smells wonderful and has a beautiful shine - one of my favorite products.

www.natural-equine.co.uk do brilliant natural shampoos. Have used the bay one and whitening one but you could happily use either on any colour. They really do as they claim. Found the white one better than any of the purple shampoos. Particularly over the winter where I've just done a quick leg wash before going out somewhere and thought he didn't look that clean but worst of the mud was off to find once he was dry he was shiny white. The bay one brings out the colour too

Wahl Dirty Beastie (think thats what they call it)
Definate thumbs up, you get a good lather, and its good on greys!

Of Supreme Show Products do a purple one, smells really nice and has really good results.
