This post brought a great pic smile to my face :D What a lovely achievement.


My achievement of this weekend has been potentially getting 2 new jobs, fingers crossed!!
 
Not mine but my lady's. Was in the sand pen and rolled all the way over :) she looked so pleased with herself after 4 months box rest :/
My achievement will be successfully moving her into her new stable.
 
Well after failing to start the lorry and failing to clear the kitchen drain, I thought I was pushing my luck riding this afternoon :eek: However, the girl were brilliant, a neighbour has just bought three young pigs, who are living in a field next to the road. My mare stopped with her ears up my nose, Sis took the Big Girl past us and we followed on, with three small pigs running up their side of the wall, making excited grunting noises. The rest of the short fittening hack was unneventful, until we came back past the little pigs, my mare managed to go past first, but for some reason decided to shoulder fore past them, looking away from them, rather than at them :D :D :D A lovely afternoon in the sunshine :D
 
I spent a lot of the day dismantling two large hay bales and stacking the sections undercover - much much heavier work than I expected

I also made two sheep 'ring' feeders and used my hatchback and an old gate to harrow part of the field

Meanwhile the ponies ran around with no rugs on and had a fight over their play ball - busy day for them too then......
 
Had a fantastic dressage lesson, instructor (who comes over every month from england) couldn't believe the difference since last month and thinks he's a different horse now! Very very pleased that our training is moving in the right direction! Had such a super lesson can't wait to get stuck into our homework!
 
Had a super lesson last night and put instructors advice about contact into practice on our solo hack this morning- we've had some napping issues which were pain related but have continued now that he's had the all clear but today we managed an hours hack, past the scary bit of road, between two fields of naughty cantering horses and OVER THE STREAM without batting an eye. Delighted to have my brave boy back!
 
We managed to walk over a filled ditch of very large, loose cobbles/pebbles. Going second probably made the situation worse, as the clatter of the first horse going over made her very anxious to tread on them! It only took six attempts, at which point she crept onto them and realised they weren't going to eat her. Definitely worth a good pat!

Polly loaded Harry straight away on to the lorry :-) when we got back I parked it in between 2 others without denting any of them! :p
 
Jumped new horse at home over 80-90cm and they felt small :) that height used to feel big on old horse so must be feeling more confident.
 
My boy (and me) have been off work for 12 weeks (fractured spine - me) and took him out in hand today for the first time. Before my accident, he was a 'looker' whilst out and could also plant at times, so I was prepared for both....but he didn't bat an eyelid, we walked past young bullocks eating their hay by the road (why do farmers do that?!), past two adjacent fields of cantering horses who came to check him out (including one with a stallion in) and a man (aka gremlin) up roofing - ok so at this point he did stop, look and get panicked but just told him to get going and we did. And then we turned round and had to come back through it all over again.

I came back to the yard with a big, big grin (and in need of a big, big gin!)

Onwards and upwards for all of us by the sounds of everyone's acheivements today :)
 
My youngest hacked her new pony out over the fields for the first time today,it was the first time he'd seen sheep and he wasn't the slightest bit worried.She also got him over some water and through muddy gateways with no problems.I'm really pleased with them both because he is only 6,very green and hasn't been out much and my daughter is only 7.He has been with us 3 weeks today and she is the first person to hack him on the road and the first person to jump him over a cross country jump.I'm hoping things carry on as well as they are and that they have many happy years together.:)
 
Watched a (much) younger friend jump my new boy as I haven't had the bottle yet and he was a complete star! My turn next...Ladt weekend we did manage to canter in the school and hack out on our own, both for the first time, so we are getting there
 
Rode Taz for the first time since christmas day and we were bareback and he was good :) bit argumentative but nothing compared to what we used to have and also had my saddle re-stuffed today for Rio; rode him bareback and then with the saddle and he was exactly the same :) none of his usual stuffyness or rushing and i managed not to slide off the side as i had no stirrups which is a success in itself as its a super slippery saddle :o looking forward to riding properly tomorrow with a saddle for the first time in 2 months yeyy!!
 
I picked a considerable amount of mud off the neddy's nether regions - by hand - in preparation for clipping tomorrow.

Not saying it's perfect, mind. :p
 
Ive just rebacked my horse who had broken down when he was sent away to be done professionally.Tremendous sense off achievement when I sat on him today.He had torn ligament and was reacting in pain previously so getting all clear from vets to start work after his op then him behaving impeccably was fabulous.He didn't like the idea of my instructor getting on but stood like a old school master for me and did everything from voice .IM feeling very proud this is first horse Ive ever backed.:D
 
Very happy with my 4yo. At the start of the winter we had lots of fights over getting the bridle on. Let it go until now and started 3 days ago. Day 1 rubbing face with bridle. Day 2 bridle on for a few seconds. Today bridle on quite happy. Tomorrow...add noseband lol
 
Had a brill lesson with Sonny Hillier, who is breaking my pony to drive. We are using one of his ponies to begin with, it was great! I really feel like I have got the bug!!

Katymay that is a real achievement, what a pair of stars, pony and son!

Spent my morning trying to get rid of mole mountains, as well as using nice morning to have good clean up round stables and yard.
 
Had a cracking session with my youngster! Our outdoor has been refenced & the surface leveled out...... We had to share it with someone who was doing a private lesson & 2 other liverys & I was just super impressed with how much Madum concentrated - got some great work in, she was very much on front of the leg & we got lots of trot to square halt work achieved.... Oh & best part was NOT having to wear a winter coat & ride in the sunshine! :D
 
Still waiting for saddle to come back from being adjusted so did some groundwork. Not lunged since last year but the field is dry so went for it.
Today we managed walking over poles instead of the usual "wall of death" arab-style ....plenty of chewing, licking and thinking (him, not me ;)) so perhaps we are finally realising that everything doesnt have to happen at warp speed lol :).
