I have been looking for a share for the past few months and have been offered one 3 days a week mainly schooling with a bit of hacking. Visit twice a day all stable duties plus for her other horse on my days but not riding. But £150 a week. Seems alot to me. What does others think?

Think I need to keep looking. Also does anyone know were else I could look for a share. I live in Caterham, Surrey near gatwick airport.

That does seem a lot, especially if your doing all of the chores + her other horse. I used to pay up to £25 a week for 3 days with chores. I always thought there wasn't much point in sharing if I could have my own for the same amount of money.

Have you tried preloved and equine adverts? They seemed to be the best when I was looking. Also local tack stores may have notice boards that you could advertise on/look for others advertising.

Hope you find one soon, I know how long it takes to find the right one!

£150 a week???!!!!!!!

And you go twice a day on your days and do all duties for two horses????!!!!!!

Speechless. But yes, keep looking - you could have your very own horse on full livery with no duties for that, and if you saved the money at that rate for five months you'd have a budget of three grand to buy it with! Have you tried preloved for other shares?

I was looking for a sharer for my iccle pony 13.2hh hes brilliant if your a confident rider :D i love him - but i had so many novices and time wasters iv given up and gone back to riding him my self! i just wanted someone else to enjoy him! seen as i have two others one of them 3 years

i didnt charge anything, just the odd bag of feed over the winter, maybe pay for his feet to be trimmed! - no shoes - and a bag of carrots when they run out and some bales of hay over winter, they would have had unlimtd hacking and i have some jumps in the field! but it was only a field but they could have treated him like there own - i thought someone would have jumped at the chance.. :( poor Digby :D but that is alot of money to pay but if they
have facilities i spose that would push the price up.. :D

sorry i wasnt very helpfull!! :D

Ah that confirms what I thought. Keep looking I think. Thank you for your advice.

Not in a position to purchase as going back to uni next year.

definately keep looking as they are having a laugh expecting all that and then to pay £150 on top! good luck with finding one.

What do you want to do and what size horse do you need? Can you make it to Warlingham/Woldingham?
£150pcm is ridiculous. £100-£150pcm the norm I reckon - I know of a few horses around here looking for sharers but depends what you want.

Easily make Warlingham/ Woldingham. Live in Caterham. Looking for around 3 days a week but am flexible. Ideally schooling and hacking. If poss opportunity but not to bothered if not just want a horse to have fun with. Dont mind problem horse as had 3 ex- racers off track which I retrained myself. Use to competed up to Elementary dressage. Size anything from 15hh to 17hh.

Have you looked on equineadverts/ horses to loan/ south east? First page, there are 2 ISH one bay near the top and one coloured right at the bottom. Don't know them personally but you might not have seen them.

The others I know of are a lovely connemara gelding who does a bit of everything, I think he's 15hh. And a chunky irish type about 15.2 who is quite young, very sensible, owner is lovely but not the most experienced and wanted a bit of help bringing him on. I don't think either owner would object to them being taken out to a few local competitions. I'll text them to see if they're still looking for sharers and PM you.

I've had a few shares, and the going rate around here seems to be around £10 per day. I also occasionally bought an extra bag of feed, new headcollar when old one tatty, that kind of thing.

The only way I'd even consider paying near that much is if it was an amazing horse/yard combo that I could never afford to cover by myself. However, that kind of horse would prob be beyond my riding skills!

Good luck finding something :)

Thank you alexedwards. Have contacted both then on Equine Adverts.

Just got to keep looking. Going to put some wanted ads in the local tack shops.
