Typing up my sharer agreement just now and I'm using the BHS loan template and just adjusting as I go.

When it comes to period of notice to quit the agreement is 2 weeks ok?
My sharer pays weekly but I think that's a bit of a short amount of time for notice and at least 2 weeks would be better but I'm unsure of what's the norm :o

Any advice appreciated! :D

I think that legally if you pay weekly you give weekly notice, if you pay monthly its a month's notice, that said, there is no harm in asking for more notice. Two weeks sounds fair enough.

Thanks Honey08 :)

Actually is there any chance I could PM someone who's good at wording/ agreements once I'm finished typing it out so they can have a read over and see if it's alright or if I've missed anything out please? :o

i think 2 weeks is plenty of time...

in the past ive given a weeks notice (me to stop sharing their horse).... and thats fine :)

I've usually had a month, once as that is how I paid as a sharer, once totally informally and once with a contract.

In normal circs 2 weeks (with weekly payment) will be fine for both sides.

You may also want to allow yourself the option of stopping them riding immediately and giving back any money for that week (or however long they pay for) at your own discretion.

["In the event of any clauses of this agreement being breached by the sharer, or if any welfare concerns arise, then the agreement may be terminated with immediate effect by the owner on refund of any monies paid by sharer in respect of a future period."]?

I say that as a sharer knowing that if owner had any concerns about welfare of horse I'd want them to feel able to stop me riding any time they wanted.

Having said that I've not had that arrangement suggested to me yet.
