Some of you may remember that I've had a few sharers out to try Ty - none of which worked out.

The guy that tried him a few weeks ago (and he reared with) wasn't put off and still keeps in touch as to how Ty is going.

Half of me doesn't know whether it was who we rode out with (Ty is always a nutter when we ride out with a certain horse on our yard) or whether it was the guy tensing up on him.

Either way, this guy is having lessons with a good classical school and is really keen to get involved in Ty.

So what do I do? I said previously that if he shared Ty he'd have to have lessons with my instructor/YO so that we're all riding Ty the same and he was cool with that. His stable management needs bringing up to speed but as Ty is on Part Livery he'd have all the support he needed.

This guy really really likes Ty and I think that maybe a couple of weeks of lessons to get Ty listening to him, and they may be a good little combo.

Not really sure what to do!

I think you should give him another chance?

It's always a bit awkward and maybe a little nerve wracking riding a new horse for the first time so nobody could blame him for being a bit tense- perhaps he will be a bit more relaxed next time?

Well he's met my 6ft rugby playing boyfriend so it could be him he's interested in!!

i would see if he wants to try a trial - maybe 2 weeks but only riding with supervision?
that way he gets to know ty a bit better but you know ty's not going to get mucked up?

I would do a trial period, give the guy a chance. Chances are, he was nervous trying out a new horse and having you scrutinise his riding etc. A couple of weeks and he will start to relax and you will see exactly what he is like.

Get him to come along a couple of times you are there and let him get some groundwork in with Ty and book him a lesson with your instructor. I'd suggest for the lesson - keep out of the way (not saying don't watch) but don't be anywhere obvious - and then see how your instructor rates him.

May be good to have another opinion.

There must be potential there for you to be considering it. If it was a big no-no, you would have said not straight away.

Give it a try and see what happens. Might even be worth going for a coffee somewhere with him away from the horse, have a good chat see what you think about him away from the pressure of him being assessed on his performance!

If ty goes loopy when he's out with a particular horse in your stable, it may be worth giving the guy another chance and hacking out with another horse? It could be just nerves as he was probably trying to impress you!

Also, what does your instructor think?

Yes, I think I'll ask another girl to ride out with him without me being there - once he's had a few more lessons on Ty!
