I have 2 fantastic girls sharing my 'spare' horse. I love them to bits and they know what they're doing. They pay me for her keep, and I look after her but they exercise her and plan her schedule!

One of them has just let me know she doesn't think she can afford to pay her share of ponio's keep, (novembers is due on sunday and I rely on it towards the stables rent).

They came as a pair and the other can't bridge the gap. I don't want to do the dirty on them but all I can get from them is that they don't know.

I need to do something as I am paying out for the poor gee gee and can't afford too, all of them will suffer from a lack of funds and I don't have time to keep her in work so need to make decision quickly before she fizzes up and wastes muscle.

Really like the girls and they say they want to keep her. But I have another girl interested in buying her who wants to come and veiw.

I love the horse to bits but I got her in a bit of a state and have spent loads of time and money making her happy and well and think she derserves a permenant fun home, not sure I can give her that without help and don't fancy starting AGAIN with sharer, had 2 false starts before these 2 took her on, not the horses fault

what do I do??

Please help!

Personally, Id try and find out what the issues are and try and find some compromise. I can't imagine not having spare funds for such an eventuality - there's always a likelihood something like this could happen.

Speak to the girls, find out what they want and go from there. But certainly I wouldn't act too hastily.

I would see how it goes with the girl that wants to buy her and if she would be a suitable home. You aren't committing to selling her by letting her come and look.

advertised her for sale as knew funds for emergencies would be limited with extra horse, I ended up with her by accident, (long story and previous post) but the girls were adamant that they could cope, neither of them pays much and they get a nice horse on full livery (in effect as I do everything) all paid up. Since then my financial situation has changed slightly and I have even less reserves! I could take a livery in that box if I sold her and do the same work for 3 times the cash and not spend it all on feed, hay, etc! BUT would mean parting with Gee Gee

home but it's rented so I still have to pay out for her stable in effect. I am also moving house inthe near future and may have to go back to diy livery if I can't get enough land with new house (looking at options at moment)

its a tricky 1 but if you feel that the girl comming to see her is suitable and the horse will be happy, would either of you consider loan with view to buy, then you don't have to supprt her financially but will know that shes gone to the right person before you sell her,

Sorry not sure ive been much help

Thanks everyone, I'm having a chat with the 2 who have her on sunday and the other girl wants to come next weekend, I'll let you know what happens!

I would sell, if you are happy parting with the horse and don't want to keep her into her dotage. You are likely to be in the same position in the future, relying on sharers - they never seem to last very long. Alternatiavely, you could always loan her to the person coming to view?

if you can sell to a nice home then money on the table is much better than promises from shareres! people dont buy if they are not serious, but homes vary in standards!
