omg,omg,omg!!!!!!!

I am going to see a horse on Saturday with a view to becoming a sharer!!

I am soo nervous!

Any advice about sharing or questions to ask?

Thanks

As an owner, with a sharer, I would look for the following:

Someone who is going to love my horse, do their best around him and most importantly cover him in kisses!

Be yourself, act calmly and confidently around the horse and try to stay calm! Ask the owner lots of questions so it looks like you have an interest in him/her, but try not to give too many opinions... eg turn out routine, do they get tit-bits, pony likes/dislikes, any 'issues' and approach to them - eg if nappy on the road, what is the owners reaction... also enquire as to yard rules - you don't want to upset the equilibrium! Worth also checking out any tack cleaning responsibilities!

Good luck, try to stay calm and enjoy!

I can't help you too much as I fell into both my shares and knew both horses and their routines before I took them on. Most of my questions were boundary related and the finer details of the share.

General questions to ensure that you are going into the share with your eyes wide open!
However don't have a constant stream of questions at first as it may intimidate the owner, they are looking for two things in you: someone suitable for their horse AND someone suitable for them. Believe me when I say that the dynamic between the two people looking after the horse can make or break a share!

If you want to hack ensure you know the rules. Ask if they are good in traffic, if you are OK to trot on the road, do you have to wear reflective gear.

If it a horse you are allowed to compete ask the terms etc

Last of all good luck! I hope all goes well and we hear an update on Saturday :D
