Well, sadly my sharer has decided not to share Ed anymore
frown.gif
She was a very good sharer so when things started to pop up, she wasn't riding, letting me down and finally asking me not to mention infront of her partner how much she pays me (?) I knew something was up.

We had a quick chat and she said yes, she no longer had time for Ed.

So back to the drawing board, with our recent weather etc I am a little dubious wether I'll get any interest but here's hoping for another loving Mum for my boy so he can get oodles of attention and rides.

Also, a sideline question here - as a sharer do you actually want to ride lots?

Some sharers want to ride constantly some are happy just to have a horse to care for, each person is an individual. Just like some let you down and others are brilliant.

A really good sharer is difficult to find

I don't strictly share, but help out with a wicked group of horses!! Yes I love riding, fit it in as much as I can and have real ambition/hopes with the horses I ride at the moment (showing, hunting, sj) but it's not the only reason for me helping their owners out. I enjoy just being around the horses, don't mind yard work and have had the fab opportunity of handling youngsters including the little filly that was born yesterday... riding kind of went on the back burner for the last few weeks and the horses in work have had a mini holiday

I think I need to word my ad carefully then.

I need a sharer that does want to ride, the mucking out is only once a day as horse is turned out for me by a friend. Because Ed suffers with lammi or at least he almost did, it is my upmost want that he gets regualr excercise and keeps a decent level of fitness and leaness throughout the year. I don't mean I want a sharer to commit to every day riding but just someone who when they get the chance - will snap it up.

My old sharer wouldn't ride after work or in the school etc she only wanted to hack him, which was nice but meant he only got ridden on weekends really. I would love someone who wanted to school, jump and compete him even.

when I didnt have Frank I didnt techincally share but rode for other people and always wanted to ride though we struggled to in the week in the winter in the summer I would ride several nights a week and at weekends.

The only thing I would say, much as I love my boy and am desperate to go ride him later as its been ages. But when it comes to keeping him fit I do feel a bit

about it in winter sometimes but manage because I know it is good for him and means I can compete him.

am sure you will find someone suitable as I think he looks like a fab ride

Do you mean you like riding less in winter? Naughty!

I am lucky because Ed has been kept fit and is now fit enough to go out and compete where possible and is ready to start some serious school work (don't tell him) so he's just ready for someone to get on and go - I hope that will appeal to someone!

Kitsune - Personally, that's everything I was looking for when I was on the lookout for a share horse!

If I were nearby and I had my car, I'd snap the opportunity up!

I was also not a fair weather rider, I rode in the pouring rain if I had to because there was no indoor school.

is ok I will keep quiet on the school front

no just that I like riding less in the dark at 6.30 in the morning in the winter and trying to gauge when it isnt going to be too icey to ride out at 6.30 on said mornings!

If I had an arena with lights I would be happier

Now thats where I'm really lucky, on a yard with 2 arenas and lights, all weather gallop too - so lots to use when you can't use the yard.

Pinky - you would be perfect and you would enjoy Ed, he's a very confidence giving ride while still being able to move up the gears as you do.

The thing which Im conscious of is because he's 13
frown.gif
he's getting on a little so I like to keep him fit so i can enjoy as much as possible in the years he has left
frown.gif
sad really!

We'll see what happens, I have made one cursory enquiry so now just to see if she fancies my offer
smile.gif

LOL HE doesn't feel like it, but I am aware after 7 seasons of hunting his joints might be a little...worn
grin.gif
but he is big ginger warhorse so he'll be ok - but the regular work does keep him nice and supple and non clicky!

ditto on the regular work helping, it is noticeable that frank really struggles if I dont manage to do decent amounts of flatwork. Frank has jumped/PC'd most of his life my theory is that he will keep going as long as he keeps going and make the most of it

Remind me, how far away are you?

I individually love to ride the horse and muck out, groom etc.. Obviously if the owner doesnt want me to ride all the time I dont but I love treating them asif they are my own- by just giving them cuddles and spending time with them aswell as all the usual stuff rather than just 'turning up riding, mucking out and going'.

But then again some people just want to ride and others just like fussing over a horse but not riding.

Whereabouts are you?
smile.gif

I've got problems with my new sharer. She wouldn't go in the field to catch him as she was scared of one of the other horses. The one she is scared of is the softest one amongst them. The other day when he wouldn't stand still at the mounting block she just took him back to his stable and said she wasn't going to ride. My daughter had to get of her horse and help her. Today she was meant to come down and do whatever but she has just not turned up. I don't know what to do. All I want is someone that enjoys riding and looking afte him, that doesn't mind going into a field with other horses. And is not scared if he won't stand still at the mounting block but will take him back and make him do it again. Surely there must be someone out there

Whenever I've shared I've ridden as often as I can
smile.gif
Obviously there were days when that wasn't possible, if I had to work very late or couldn't book the school when it was too dark to hack, but generally I've been up for riing whatever.

It's the money that's stopping me, and the bad experience with the owner last time.

When I was sharing Ellie I rode at least 3 times a week on weekdays and loved it. Mucked out if it needed doing and groomed her. Loved every minute of it too.

There are sharers out there who want to ride and aren't too bothered by other horses being around in the field
