sharers and a sort of how much!

i have had 2 ladies offer to help with riding my 4 horses both days at the weekend for now and once in the week but it will be more often when clocks change again,they wont have to do chores just riding,they have offered to pay £15 each a week for the winter and then £20 a week when the clocks change as they can ride more often,the ? is they are teachers and in the six weeks holiday one or both will go abroad for a few weeks and wont be able to ride,they have offered to pay a small fee to keep the rides as they really love the horses and the hacking etc,i said not to worry but they def want to pay something to keep the rides, so how much a week should i say? It would be a max of 6 weeks and then the odd week here and there, would appreciate advice on what to say! Had a sharer before for one horse but she paid a set fee every week and came on regular days, thanks

I had a sharer a couple of years ago and I charged a fixed amount of £20 per week for 2 days whether they rode or not, the basicly had my horse to themselves on their days and had to do all the stable chores but were I let them compeate.

I agree with chesnut_mare. A set weekly/monthly figure whether they ride or not, including their time away.

£20.00 per week for two days whether they ride or not, and do the stable chores those days seems very reasonable to me!
I was thinking of loaning out my lovely cob next year so thatI can get another horse and thats what I will be asking.
If the loanees go on holiday then they should still pay the full amount while you do their chores.
It seems to me many sharers/loaners get off very lightly with having horses for almost free or just a the minimal work while the owners pay out a fortune for the horses.
I ve done it myself in the past, but not anymore!

Just work out how much your horses cost you a month, that should put things in perspective.
