Let someone like this share your horse?

Novice rider, good on the ground (grooming, mucking etc), overweight, really wants to learn and improve, but has limited funds for that. Could do every morning if needed.

Sorry, just wondering! Everyone seems to want experenced riders with oodles of cash lol!

Yes. And yes I do rent one of my horses to a chap who is exactly in your category!

You honestly wouldn't believe just HOW into the horses he is now - and he had never ridden in his life before August last year. He comes out religiously twice a week and wanders off on his own with one of my nice quiet horses and he loves it!

Kirsty!!!!!! You've changed your name!!!

Depends on the horse really. With Jim it would be irresponsible because he wouldn't be safe for a novice rider but if LU was older (he's only 3) then I probably would be.

if i had a very calm horse then yes to the above, however, i would only want someone experienced to share mine simply becasue he can be challenging and can get excitable! plus my pony loves to be out and about and jumping etc so only someone competent would be able to do this alone. nothing against anyone who isnt a pro, we all start somewhere!!

I share the work with my sister and our friend, they both work and my sister has two young children so I do the most riding, not that I mind as I only look after the yard and house anyway! They muc out every morning between them and I do daytime chores. Works well for us.

If I had a suitable horse I would. Have had novice sharers before and got on really well. TBH I would almost prefer having a novice sharer who is keen than an experienced know it all trying to tell me what to do all the time!

No, I am far too fussy about Spring!! Lol! Plus it has taken me a long time to instill any manners in her and I would worry about all my hardwork being undone, plus she is very much a one-person horse.

But main reason is that I would hate it!!

I know sharing's not for everyone!

Yep, the young un is so sensible, and is likely to be sold on as a more novicey type as she's quiet and weight carrying (so could do with a novice guinea pig - (insert evil grin here

)... she also needs more work. I've been riding her this week, and giving the tb a few days of, I just can't seem to ride them both everyday,

Where abouts are you?

yes i think so, possibly preferable to have a novice - you can then invest time with them to get them riding and handling the way you like.

Yep..... infact I do...... even more scary is that she shares the 4 year old TB and loves her to bits. Although my sharer tends to only ride and i tend to "pick up the bits"
