When I was sharing I used to pay a set fee per month but I had virtually unlimited riding for that as my owner had other horses to ride and train so that would be a factor in deciding how many days horse is available for.



If the weather was bad enough that I couldn't ride then tough I still had to pay the same amount. After all just because its raining enough to float an ark the horse's needs are the same as if it was fine.
 
I used to do one set day a week and pay weekly. Now I have my own, I prefer sharers to do certain days and pay cash when they're up. I was a lot more flexible for my last wonderful sharer who did shift work.
 
with my sharer i used to ask her to do the days that i couldnt. but now we have set days, i do monday wednesday friday saturday and she does the others. we chop and change if necessary since we both work now.
 
i've had arrangements where i paid on a set day every month and rode three times a week - whichever days i wanted unless the owner text me to let me know shed be riding that day - which was rare.
ive also had arragnements where i pay each time im at the yard and had very rigid set days.
ive also had an arrangement where i paid weekly which started off as rigid set days and quickly degenerated into my having the horse full time.
 
My 'days' are Monday and Thursday and one day at the weekend. However... The owner of my share is also now my friend, so I go down on my non official days. I ride other horses on the yard too so we can also ride out together. I pay a set monthly amount. I am sure I'm the luckiest sharer ever... :D
 
Its usually a set fee with set days.

An injured or unrideable horse is just one of those things.
An owner can't stop paying livery if their horse is ill so a sharer shouldnt. (obviously with in reason) longer term problem may force a discussion to change arrangements.
 
Set day, set price, ide be pretty miffed if loaner/ sharer only wanted to know when they ride as it shows they arnt really intrested in horses care/welfare and IMO people like that would be better off in a riding school!
 
i have always had flexible arrangements - set fee for nominal number of days, sometimes more at the owners discretion, sometimes less if i was busy. usually kept to roughly the same days but would arrange the days a week or so in advance so always knew what we were doing. weather was never a factor - unless it was snowing and i couldnt get to the yard (only times this has happened was on occasions where the owners also had other horses that they needed to sort as well - obviously if the horse was relying on me then i would have got there somehow!)
 
I pay a set amount monthly, and they are very flexible with regards to days I do. They have also offered more days if I ever wanted and don't want extra money. I appreciate I've fallen on my feet with the owners!

Not loaned etc before hence the question as I wasn't sure how it usually works..... but situation being if the horse isn't ridden, its not visited (full liv) and no contribution is made....
 
When I shared I paid a set amount each week for 3 set days a week - Monday, Friday, Sunday. Even if I couldn't ride I would still need to go down and look after the horse as it was on DIY and it was up to me to muck out, feed and groom it on my days.

Now I have my own horse and have a sharer she also pays me a set amount for a set number of days a week - she has Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I am flexible if she wishes to change one of her days occasionally as long as I know in advance. My horse is on full livery so if she decides not to go up on one of her days it doesn't matter but I still expect to get the same amount of money.
 
We've got a great sharer for my daughter's Tb gelding, she and my daughter worked out a schedule of days between them, they pay half his livery, shoes, and food/supplements each and I pay his insurance. I tend to turn out in the mornings because neither have flexible jobs and I look after him if either one is away with work or on holidays. They sometime swap days if it suits them. On the whole it seems a happy arrangement, I hope it stays that way.

If the horse wasn't ridden for a period of time due to injury or illness I wouldn't force the sharer to come up, though we're on DIY, but I think she would as she is very fond of our boy. I'd kind of still expect her to pay though, unless it was going to be a really long term thing.
 
I used to pay £15 per week for unlimited riding. Me and owner would split days to feed between us. I would do mon weds fri and weekends. Or just fed whatever days I rode. Very flexible :)
 
Set fee for a certain number of days for my sharers but as one worked shifts the exact days changed each week. Mine are at my home and so no 'chores' to do so if weather terrible they didn't come (but paid monthly in advance ) no nickle and diming about daily payments.
I had three sharers two years ago when we lost a months worth of riding due to the snow and they all paid, they came occasionally for a brush/ carrot but no one complained about costs.
