Hi
I am considering looking for a horse to share 2 or 3 days a week as i have had to give up my horse and my pony has just been PTS.

I havent ever shared before so was wondering how much in general do people ask for as financial contribution?

Also is there anything else I need to think about before I look for a share?

Thanks for your help :)

Emily

No hard and fast rules, some people ask for roughly half the livery charge and something towards shoes, some ask for 'work for rides'. If the horse is DIY, often seems to be £20 -25 p/w. However, for an experienced rider, some people are happy just to offer the ride for free.
For a novice, I'd probably ask for half the livery cost and half for shoes for my cob, but for an other horse needing a capable rider, who wouldn't need hand holding, I wouldn't ask for anything as I struggle to exercise them all.

As above with prices.

You can advertise for a share, that way you can outline what you want in a horse, that works quite well.

When you do go into a share, just make sure your clear on who does what, so that you don't take the horse out, to later find it was the owners turn, or vice versa!!

Thanks guys! I had been seeing everything from £10 pw to £40 pw!!! was very confused!!! lol
