Sharing transport to shows?

Hi, I compete my horse doing affiliated SJ, I am really struggling with motivation to go to shows as I always have to go on my own, and most of ones on a surface are over an hours drive from me. Do you think it would be possible to find someone who would want to share transport to shows or someone who would like come to shows with me in exchange for free riding? Do thee kind of arrangements work? How and where could I advertise for this kind of thing?

I think this would work. I know a lot of people who would love to compete with their horses but don't get the opportunity because they cannot afford the transport. Try preloved, advertising in local saddlery or asking around people if they know of anyone?

I often can't get to shows unless I share as can't drive OH's car so if he's busy I go with someone else and I always pay full diesel costs

Definitely. Advertise locally & by word of mouth, majority of competing I've done has been through sharing, you should get loads of responses.

Thanks its good to know there are other people who have done this. I am near Barnsley in South Yorkshire. Will try putting some adverts around and hopefully will be able to find someone interested.
