Just wanted to get a general consensus....I booked the vet to come out to see my horse, in advance to fit in with work. meanwhile some elses horse went ill, and needed the vet on that day, when the vet came, he tended to the more urgent horse first and gave him some jabs too, then did mine. When the bill came, the call out had been split 50/50, but I get the impression my YO thinks I should pay all of it as I called him out. Thoughts please folks...

50/50 sounds perfectly fair to me. Perhaps you were lucky to be able to share your call out but equally the other person would have had to pay for a full call out if it wasn't for you.

i love you all....feel much better, no its not the YO's horse, didnt ask why she thought I should pay it - i was going to offer to pay it all but now all of you have said 50/50, then thats what it is!
thanks xxxxxxxxxxxx

If you had not needed the vet, but the other livery had, they would have to pay the full whack, same in reverse. Therefore you should only pay 50/50 each.

50/50 is compleatly fair.
I got done over once though. I worked for an eventer and kept Lucy on a big comp yard with the eventers and some showjumpers. Some of the eventers and most of the showjumpers had been under the weather but there riders didn't bother to call the vet. Then while hacking back from a dressage comp Lucy collapsed. I called the vet out and she tested her for EHV. The eventer and showjumper both said they wouldn't have there horses tested because if Lucy had it then theres must have as Lucy will have caught it from theres. She tested positave and i was the only one with a vet bill

But as it was my job, Livery and my home there wasn't much i could do. (Once Lucy got better i got another job)
