My trusty hoof knife which is used for trimming rag ends of frog etc is getting rather blunt. Apparently I am supposed to use a sharpener regularly on it, oops 🙈.

Any recommendations for a suitable sharpening tool, please?

It’s a double S hoof knife, like so.

I think you are expected to sharpen it pretty often. :D:D:D

you could use something like this or go onto farrier supplies sites and you will find endless variations.

I tried the blade sharpener in the dremel and wasn't successful for mine.
Don't forget to get the burrs off the back of the blade

If you look on utube there are lots of hoof knife sharpening videos. Give you hours of fun 🤣

I have an excellent sharpener, he's called "you sharpen my knives and I'll trim your horse" :D

I have this one. Does the job :)

I messaged equine podiatry supplies and they recommended getting the diamond all-in-one 🙂. Order placed, including other bits and bobs.

Update.

I am very pleased with my Diamond all in one sharpener. My hoof knives have never been so sharp, I need to be very careful when handling them now, plus my kitchen vegetable knife is also now rejuvenated 🤣.

It’s something of a Swiss Army knife of sharpeners, but all the features seem to be there for a reason.

There’s a useful you tube video on how to use it, hope the link works.
