Shavings in a trailer!!

Normally its just the matting actually. Although just to throw a spanner in the works there is currently straw down on top of the matting. Purely because I had to get a bit of a "wild one" in there and the blackness of the floor can throw them a bit and make them tricky to load. The straw seems to help...

i put a thin layer in the back half off mine easier to pick poo out of plus looks comfier the only thing i have noticed is that if you put big flakes down they tend to be bit slippy i use easi bed

hope this bit off help
use to work at sj yard and they always did so jsut seamed naturally !!

I use easy bed too. I find it easier to clean out and less "splash back" from runny bottoms

I usually have just the floor, but tonight i put shavings down as had to wash it quite late on and i need to use it early morning so was scared it might still be wet and slippy for him travelling!

I never travel mine without some sort of bedding down. I believe an animal needs to feel comfortable to relieve itself whenever it feels the need as much as possible, and as such cannot understand why anyone would travel a horse without either straw or shavings etc as so many will put off weeing if they think they might splash themselves.

Straw in my trailer simply because I was travelling 2 tiny ponies loose on a 150 mile trip so needed them to be cushioned if they stumbled at all, plus the rest of the straw bale acted as a barrier to the jockey door (which gave me palpitations all the way home!). Took my Big Ned Sunny out in the trailer yesterday and decided to leave the straw down (= laziness!). He was quite happy with it, loaded as ok as normal and perfectly happy coming off. Straw stays down until Molly or Sunny tell me different!
