Shavings - which ones?

I'm moving to a new yard and they only bed on shavings. Can anyone recommend me a good brand for an older horse that gets a cough every so often? He gets footsore so something thick and of good value, not too expensive?

Another vote for Bedmax, love it. No dust and lovely smelling shavings; they work out no more expensive than other brands I've used.

Bedmax is a good consistent quality. Also the large shavings from our local equine store to top up if I run out of Bedmax. Will put name on later.

my only gripe with Bedmax was I found you had to use more of them, maybe that's just my disgusting gelding though.

Thankyou all. I was looking into buying Bedmax in bulk. He is pretty messy in regards to his bedding.

Snowflake softchip ,it's like Easibed but much nicer and more absorbent. Didn't get on with shavings or bed max .

I used to use Bedmax & loved them until I tried Blue frog I actually use less shavings now. I never thought I would like anything other than Bebmax but I am converted now ! Hopefully Bluefrog will give Bedmax a run for there money as shavings are so expensive !

Hunters! I was using 2 bedmax a week and can get away with 1 hunter every 8 days or so, they go so much further

I use Mendips, nice large flakes, I found Bedmax a bit hard !

I've always used bedmax or beddown excel in the past, didn't like hunters that much.

I use easibed - cheapest i can access and really absorbant as well! Also its easy to muckout because all of the clean shavings fall through the fork so you save lots as well.
