After a conversation sprung up the other day with reference to height limits and the SHB(GB) I have spoken to the SHB(GB) directly and the height limit for stallions coming forward for grading still is 15h/153cms and there is no plans to change it (infact they were a little shocked at the suggestion!)

With reference to no stallions of 15.2 or under being graded in the past few years, they pointed out that a 15.1 got graded just last year... and silly me I was actually at the grading it was graded at so I should have remembered that and saved myself asking!

As for them refering horses to the SPSS to be graded, this they assure me is no regular occurance it happened on a couple of occassions when a 14.2 or when something with obvious pony blood has enquired about grading!

So those of us that like our wee 15.2 horses can stop fretting over it now HG has made the enquiries and its all hunky dory

Well I'm one of those who has a 15hh TB mare who is Head Stud Book graded with the SHB(GB) and was the first ever TB mare to also be graded (and Head Stud book again) with the SPSS. Nothing to do with "pony blood" - simply to do with height and of course, how good your horse is.
