Can you put a mare of unknown breeding forwards for grading with the SHB (GB) as a broodmare if she has produced good quality youngstock registered with the society???

Do SHB (GB) recognise the BEF Futurity results?

She can grade into the foundation stud book with a relatively low mark or main stud book if she gains more than 8.5

I dont think progney or who they are/arent registered affects the result.

Thanks... I will look into it then as I would like to get her graded should I choose to breed from her again

I have to say though, as a broodmare I think the type of offspring she has already produced should be important, as technically, that is why they are graded

Hi, The best option is to give them a call or check there web site.

There is a big question mark over the SHB (GB) and the futurity as the top marked show jumping colt was presented for a grading last year. They didin't take the result of the futurity in to account. so was marked 0 for performance and hence failed the stallion grading causing a right hohar. I have not seen anything to indicate that this has changed.

Also what are the benfits of getting your mare graded?

good luck

SHB(GB) did not recognise H's BEF results, or even B's showing result, when she was graded. She is in the Foundation book, as her pedigree is incomplete on paper - I just need to prove that it is 3 gen and then she could be moved up. I won't bother though, as if I breed from her again, I will get her graded with a WB stud book..... and then I will bother....

Thanks... the reason I am thinking of getting her graded is that should I choose to breed from her again in the near future, I would like to think I could keep it for myself but that also may not be an option at the time, therefore I would also like to think I could sell it.

My mare was graded into SHGB main stud book only even though she successfully competed at advanced level eventing and is grade B show jumping. The AES however took her competition record into account and graded her into the silver stud book.
As SnowyNight states without 3 generations of breeding she will grade no higher than foundation level.

Yes the SHB will not take Futurity results into account at all. My mare was awarded a broodmare premium last year after her filly was top scoring at the Arena UK venue, and her oldest daughter (a 4yo) already has points at Novice level BD and qualified for the Regionals, but they wouldnt take any of that into account, and just gace her 2 points for her own BSJA and BD record. Luckily she scored highly on other areas for movement etc so got a decent grading score.

They will take account of their offspring, but I believe only at Affiliated competitions.

The same applies to the mares, only Affiliated competitions are taken into account, BSJA/BD/BE, and showing at shows affiliated to SHB(GB)

You've forgotten to mention Racing. Their race record is always taken into account too.
