Does anyone have any experience with sheared heels? It's not something I have ever come accross until now.
My horse was very fit and raring to go, we did one even back in May and he has been intermitently lame since then. He seems to cope with about 4 days work then lame on the fifth day. Although he's not seemed 100% comfortable even when not obviously lame. Vet's been a couple of time but not lame enough to nerve block etc.
So, the vet is now coming tommorrow for xrays, in preparation for this the blacksmith came and took his shoes off, then telling us that he has a sheared heel and this could be the issue, suggesting heart bar shoes maybe what he needs.
Has anyone had experience with this, and is it 'curable'? He has good conformation and action, so I was wondering if it could be down to the blacksmith....
