Sheep Dog whistles???

Are they easy to use? I've been working on Obi's recall and its been hit and miss. He's not food orientated at all, and the skweeky balls last seconds, running in the opposite direction waving your arms and play bowing only works ever other time but... tonight I was watching one man and his dog and the minute the whilstle went off he leapt up and sat entranced moving his head from side to side ocassionally getting up for a closer view. Will this work, as I cant get this reaction from anything I've tried?

Yes the shepherd's whistle is simple, once you get the hang of it. Blown at half volume, I've had dogs take heed, at 600 yards, BUT, no whistle ever trained a dog, it was the upright bit, the bit with the whistle in its mouth!
