As a follow on from my thread on marking rugs ... those of you that use sheep tags, do you already have a CPH number ? I am trying to order some but you seem to have to have this before they will sell them ? Help .... please :-)

Thanks!

If you have a Countrywide/Scats/CWG type shop near you ask them to fill in their forms and send them off, they charge you for the tags at the till and you get sent them in the post, that way you can cross through the parts on the form that arent applicable

Or phone the supplier and explain

I would imagine its because you are trying to complete this online and the form wont let you proceed? you definitely dont need a CPH number to order tags not intended for livestock

Yes if for sheep you need to register for a CPH and also need a UK flock number. The flock number has to go on the tags and they now also need an electronic tag (depending on when born). Look at the DEFRA website it has lots of info or your local Animal Health Office will be very helpful.

Sorry just seen its for rugs! Not sure you will be able to buy them but try Ketchum Tags in Tadworth Surrey they are very helpful and are not as expensive and do not require a large minimum order no

Just buy management tags. You could even buy them and write on them if you get cattle tags. Don't get a CPH number and order proper tags or they will probably put you in jail for tagging rugs instead of sheep :p

You can buy blank tags we get them for the cattle so we can write their name on them. Think they are from ketchum. Our local farm shop also sells them so perhaps try one of them aswell
