I read MissdeMeena's post (v. bad luck at Osberton btw) on these with interest.

I think I am going to try them on my spooky mare as her attention is everywhere but on the xc fences (and to a lesser extent SJ fences) at the moment as spectators, jump judges etc are apparently very scary.

But, I can't find any that remotely look as if they'd be 3cm in diameter. The only ones I can find are designed to go on headcollars and are massive and fluffy. I am guessing it is something I could buy from somewhere that sells racing stuff, but google hasn't come up trumps yet.

So, where do I buy them??

thanks very much :-)

Thanks, I might have to do that (presumably they velcro round?) but sewing is not my strong point and i guess I'd have to move the velcro etc! However, if I can't find any smaller ones I will do this so thank you!

I made some out of a cheap girth sleeve i bought from Equikits. My sister's pony was terribly spooky at jumps so i made some to go on her cheek pieces, cost £2 and they worked fantastically so much so she stopped wearing them!

Equikits do nosebands (£1), can't see the girth sleeves, otherwise Robinsons might do them.

Thank you - I know the ones you mean (synthetic ones). I think that will be the cheapest solution and I'll just have to learn to sew!

I'm also encouraged that they worked for your sister's pony - thanks!

You can buy the headcollar sets on Ebay. Ive got a set, they're all velcro and you have the usual noseband and head bit but I also got the side bits as well and I would definately think these would fit fine onto a bridle for what you want.

You'll have to buy the set though!

I've been thinking about trying some too. I've just found them in the Ride-Away catalogue - p193. They call them French Blinkers. The code is SMS/FRE and they're priced at just over 20.00. Seems a tad expensive but might be preferable given my total lack of sewing ability!!

Oh, thank you, however, at £20 I might risk my sewing first and use them as a fall back. That's great though as I've been sticking "sheepskin cheek" into the searches and come up with zilch!

Hi, i got the 'Roma' 100% merino sheepskin 'halter set' at £15.. the fit fine.. don't get the fake ones as they stand out more square, the real sheepskin ones i think are easier to trim down (just shave fluff off) that way you don't have to re-stitch anything. i am also dying mine brown, hoping they don't stand out too much!!
Tho the more i've talked to people about it, the more they say i was hard done by.

Oh cool - I'll go and have a look thanks. Did it work ie was your horse more focused with them on?
