Sheepskin girth covers...and mirrors in arena's

Firstly i have a chesnut TB and he is quite sensitive under his belly and where the girth sits. Somebody has suggested using a sheepskin girth sleeve to provide greater comfort as he is sensitive there. Has anyone else used them on horses for this reason? Would love any info regarding this.

Also why do people put mirror's around arena's? I have seen them so often i was just wondering what the idea behind them is?

I always were a sheepskin girth sleeve on my senstive Arab, it's helped stop dry skin round her girth area. She has suffered girth galls before so I'm super careful about how tight my girth is and always use sheepskin.

I also have a sheepskin poll guard for her bridle (she has a split head piece bridle) which stops her shaking her head when we canter, I'm very pro sheepskin!

The mirrors in arenas are for the rider to check how her position is looking/how the horse looks to be going - as she goes around the outide or down centre. They can also be useful to view lateral work such as half pass down the centre.

You could try a sheepskin girth cover - The only thing I found was that because my horse has pink skin just behind the shoulder the sheepskin did not go far enough up to cover this. But for avoiding sores or sensitivity, in general, I think they do help.
