I agree with prittstick.
I do have a good tip to keep your lovely new sheepskin fluffy, brush of debre, and massage about a handfull of human hair conditioner on it while it is dry, then put in the washing machine as normal. Lovely!
Haha, thanks for the tip!! toying with the idea of trying one instead of my prolite on a rather sensitive mare, as had heard reports that they can aid relaxation of the back muscles. BTW she has her back done very regularly and is very happy in her saddle, can just get a bit tense through her back, especially when learning new things!
i bought a mattes one last year, and it is lovely, although very thick, and they can definitely alter the fit of a saddle
but have to say i have gone back to my prolite, as imo they offer a much better level of impact protection, wouldnt ride without one
I've had three types, a roma one, a griffen numed one with memory foam and a christ horsedream lambskin one. All 3 wash fine, but the christ horsedream one is by far the best of the 3 - the roam one was cheap and now looks it, the griffen one went far more 'bobbly' after washing. The christ one is the oldest and most used but looks the best.
I use it next to the horse's back because proper lambskin has wicking antibacterial properties and according to my vet (after horse had a bout of staphlococchal folliculitis) is the best thing to use next to their backs.
Most can be washed normally, I bought the christ special wash which is cheap and v good as you only need a tiny bit.
i would not ride my horse without it as she goes much better with it on . i bought it after going to a tim stockdale clinic and he recommended using them when jumping horses. mine is a nuumed
