She had a beautiful chestnut filly with a blaze and 4 whites at 2am and both Mum and foal are fine. Will upload photos when my son shows me how!

Foal very bold and inquisitive and so sweet - arn't they all. Mum ate her hay, lay down for 10 mins, produced foal, bonded with her and then went back to eating her hay and nuzzling foal. Great birth and Mum for a maiden mare.

Need stable names for the foal and really stuck as my instinct had been it would be a colt.

Thanks! Should be tired but not at all - we're just on a high. She's so tiny!

There's a rule about measuring from some part of the leg to the ground to work out adult height, I think. Does anyone know it? Just curious as all the foals we've had efore have made 16.2hh plus and she's just like a big dog!

Congratulations!!!!!! Sounds like shes an absolute stunner!

Do you have a show name for her?

Nope can't find it, i know its from the knee to the hoof, but not sure its from the bottom of the knee to the top of the hoof or what. If you do another post in the NL entitled The String Test, there will be people that know for definite.

congrats... is it just me but seems an awful lot of late foals this year... i mean really late... our worst was 5 wks... she streamed milk for two days... and didn't budge!!
Foal so large by the end was a real struggle.. nearly lost them..

Thanks everyone. She's now trying to sleep standing up having had a canter around the stable and is swaying gently with Mum standing proudly alongside!

She really is tiny - last night whilst she was trying to suckle Mum kept nudging her towards her udder and the foal would go too far forwards and right under her tummy!

She must really be the child of old parents though - they have a combined age of 52!!

Decided to call her Poppy - somehow she looks like a Poppy. Don't have a show name though. Must look on BSJA website but bet there's already been a Tess of the d'Ubervilles...
