Half heartedly tried to sell my 3yr old del Rio (De Niro) dressage mare this summer before getting married. A bit of interest but not much. Wasn't overly worried cos she's such a star and quite happy to keep hold of her for now. Fast forward to August and got a viewing from a lady in Scotland. She'd had two months turned away so quickly rebacked her in a week. She then proceeded to show herself off very well, calm and flashy at the same time! She'd only ever been ridden by me but didn;t bat an eyelid to having a total stranger on her. They decided they wanted a vetting.
The vet came yesterday and again she was a super star. After a week being rebacked then another week off, I got straight on her and again she didn't put a foot wrong. She flew through the vetting, only issues were small splints on front legs that caused no problems, slightly parrot mouthed by about 2mm and a small bump where her belly button should be. Totally sound after all flexions and physically fine other than the above. The buyer text me this morning to say she wanted a substantial reduction in the price because she had splints, was parrot mouthed and had a sarcoid on her belly!! I called the vet and he said that as far as vettings go there are always tiny issues and that this was a very good vetting. The splints and parrot mouth weren't an issue and he never told the buyer that she had a sarcoid. He said there was a small chance it was one but he didn't put it on her form as it has always been there and hasn't changed.
I told the buyer no discount so I get to keep her!!! Actually really pleased, I can give her the winter off and properly produce her in the Spring and she'll be worth much more!!
Bit of a pointless post but a potentially bad situation has actually worked out really well. And I know she's passed a 5 stage vetting!!!
