Shetland Lame??

now awaiting vet visit. So thought i would just post on here to pass the time.
Our little shetland pony has come out of his box severely lame on front. i am thinking abscess as it is so bad. i also think he has the start of cushings so that will all tie in with each other.
He is 25 so i am preparing myself for the worst!!! so very sad - we have had him for 20 years.

Don't panic! Yes cushings, especially not yet daignosed/medicated can cause abbcess's but that's not the end of the world. Treat the abcess, test for cushings, medicate if needed and he could have years happily ahead!

Thanks everyone. vet has been - yes an abscess and taken bloods for tests - he isnt a happy bunny as he is locked in the stable. Poor little thing.

Rufty lived with Cushings for over 10 years and once he was medicated he had just one abscess. It is not a death sentence. just needs careful management

The only thing with the bloods is you might want to retest for a better picture when he's better. I was told stress can affect it

Glad you've at least found an abscess as the cause for the lameness. Hope the blood test results come back as good news.
