Fears Ponies were Deliberately Killed
Posted 5:46am 25th June 2012.

Police say two ponies may have been deliberately killed near Redruth.

The Shetlands were discovered at Carharrack at around 10.30am on Sunday morning when their owners went to feed them.

A vet says what happened may have been an accident - but they may also have been deliberately attacked in their field.

Detectives have been carrying out searches and talking to locals in an effort to establish what has happened.

They have told Pirate FM that a bag of poultry feed had been knocked over at the scene. Feed is known to be harmful to horses and experts are urging people to keep it away from their animals.

Investigating officer, DI Pete Simms said, “Whilst we are keeping an open mind, we do not believe that there is any link with the recent horse death at Stithians.

“We would appeal to all members of the local community and, in particular, horse owners for information about this incident. It is important that they remain vigilant and report any suspicious incident or activity to the police."

In the Stithians attack a horse was tortured and cut to death. Nobody has ever been brought to justice for that attack.
