I've just put a deposit down on a loving Black Shettie called Jack and I've found a place for him round the corner from me. The only prob is his owner(at the minute) wants him to have company.
Now here's the catch he's a Stallion, but he lives with a 2x 15hh cob mare and gelding and no trouble is caused, I know he cant reach so this probably puts him off, from starting anything.
Now will he be able to run with a shetland pony gedling, I know if I get a mare I will have to seperate them during season time.
Any help is greatly appreicated

Hope you enjoy him.

What are your plans for him? Are you going to breeding from him?

If not, I'd honestly have him gelded. It will make life so much less complicated for you and him. No worrying about him being a nuisance, maybe escaping if a local mare is in season, no juggling about who he can go out with etc, etc.

As a stallion he may be quite happy to run with a gelding as a companion, but, I know this from experience, don't be lulled into a false sense of security, a stallion can turn on his companion and do some serious damage in moments.
 
I have a 2yr old randy mini shitland called Mr Dinks, he's in with 2 sec A geldings (one really riggy), a pregnant sec D mare, a cob gelding, a 6 month old tb filly and a pregnant sec A mare!

Buddie (riggy one) WAS evil to him! But OK now, (after about 3 months of owning shitland!)
 
I too would insist he had company, if he was mine to sell! Just cos he's a stallion doesn't mean he'll not miss having friends.

As he's already living with a geldin and a mare (!) presumably happily, it seems a fairly safe bet that he's not a mess up little boy and can live happily with other horses.

Either get him a gelding friend or get him castrated and then he can live with any horse.

I'm pleased it works so well for you.

I had my QH stallion in with a gelding for months and they were happy, until a mare on the other side of the farm came into season and the stallion caused $800 worth of Vets bills in damage to his 'best mate'. He lives with his mares very happily.

Horses are horses, all different, some stallions are studdy, others you have to check that they have all the bits in place.
 
i would get him chopped unless you got your own land!!! in time he will find some pony he fancies male or female!! and could cause serious damage or another baby!!! unless of course you have bought him to use as a stud pony (with a perfect temperament and confirmation and fully registered with fantastic bloodlines!) and want his bits then he will lead a soliarity lifestyle unles sha****!
