"Oh my how cute is he!!

Just out of interest where did you get his rug from (the one that fits!) and what size does he take? I have a little 3ft6 sat in my spare room doing nothing as my little guy outgrew it. You're more than welcome to it if you like."

Try ebay..............does she really need a rug? Sorry for asking, but they really are very hardy and designed to live on the shetland isles, and unless she is elderly shouldn't really need one. Local tack shops are good to ask as well. X

thanks guys

cazza525 - she is naked at the moment and out 24/7. I know they are quite hardy but she is quite a fine little thing and not as robust as some of the other shetlands I know, and this is only for if it gets mega cold here again like last february (temp dropped to -7C) and we had quite a bit of snow

I love Rhino rugs for mine, though the cheaper Amigo are a deeper fit and come up like smocks on anything smaller than 12hh (Horseware! why???!!!)

IV rugs do tiny rugs and are good, (try derby house)

I think you need to look at each animal on its own merits. My Fallabela x Shetland needs a rug before any of the others (which include two WBs) and suffers quite badly when it rains as his coat seems to get wet and stay wet. It might be his Fallabela heritage though!

I got our little old shetland mare a lovely 300g rug from Robinsons with a built in neck cover - it's lovely & wasn't expensive! They do lots of rugs for dinky ponies!
