Hey ?
We are looking at creating a third stable as we will be demoting our Shetland from his 11’6x11’6 to a smaller stable so our new addition can move in.

The space we have is 8’x11’ so the stable with the walls in will come in just under that. We will make a pony height door so he can see over top bless him.

He wears a 3’9” not sure on hands but tiny.

8’x11’ sound sufficient? He’s lost in the one he’s in at the moment. But I want him to be happy ? ideally he will be out as much as possible anyway but we will want to come in with the others.

I'm going to be building a 9x12 for an 11.2hh Welsh A, 4ft9 rug, I am pretty sure that will be plenty big enough. So your 8x11 will be lovely for your little one.

My Welsh is currently rattling around in a 20x16 space and she could probably do a fairly smart dressage test in there. ?

Thank you all. I will stop worrying then! It looks like such a small area compared to his current palace haha. He quite likes to stand with his butt in the corner of the big one anyway so perhaps he will feel more comfortable if anything! Thank you ?

My 36" shetland has an 8 x 8 stable and seems very happy in it. They do tend to only be in through the day but he's been in at night with no problems. Happily lies down flat out in it.

It will be fine. My shetland’s is only 11ft x 6ft and he’s perfectly happy in there.

This is how big our Shettie's stable is roughly and he likes it - if you leave the gate open he marches out to stand by the door - and it's not just because there's hay in there (he gets his breakfast/dinner outside it for medication and they have hay in the field as well....).
