Hi guys, I came across this stallion online today( www.tregoosefarmstud.co.uk), he looks like a really nice type. But I don't think hes advertised ( I've never heard of him!) so just wondered if anyone has used him or had experience with horses by him? Thanks alot x

I have ridden one and met one at an event last week. The one I've ridden is now eventing sucessfully at novice but she was a VERY difficult youngster who had regular tantrums and knew how to stand on her back legs repeatedly! She sometimes puts it on again but she's ridden very tactfully. She's a great jumper.
The one I met last week is just a 4yr old but it was very opinionated and was standing on its back legs because it didnt want to go somewhere. I know the rider (a pro) and she said she's talented but difficult as her first response is to argue.

I've met a couple, they catch my eye as they tend to look gorgeous (my opinion, I like very dark TB types!!).
Ridden one, a mare, who was lovely but was being sold as it had plenty of attitude. Fantastic on-the-ground nature though and I'd have been delighted to buy her, it just didn't work out.
Had never heard there was a reputation for attitude, but having read ^^ I now wonder????

ummm thats intresting thanks guys, I had heard a rumour they were opinionated! The mare i'm using has a good temp and competition record, but also went through a phase of rearing and arguing when she was a 4yr old!..... I do like him through same they don't have him avaliable by A.I as hes in Cornwall!

I went to see him as am thinking of using him on my opinionated Master Spiritus chestnut mare. He's very nice and super temp. He's got quite a lot of good offspring from very few mares by the looks of him. I am tempted to use him still. I have sought an opinion from someone who has a mare of his who is evented. She said her temp was great. I think that you have to recognise that they are TB's and therefore maybe considered "sharp" when compared to a warmblood? Personally I think that is ok, depending on the degree of sharpness of course. This does not mean that either TB's or Warmbloods are better or worse, but sometimes I think sharpness is seen as an issue rather than a positive.

I've done a bit of research on pedigree as I believe that is where good horses stem from and Shining Spirit not only has Spiritus on his lines, but also Big Game. Big Game is behind the Welton Stallions, Future Illusion, Mill Law, Catherston Dazzler, It's Without Doubt, Tinsley Faerie Legend ...... just interesting.

I have a 2 yo by Shining Spirit and he has a really kind and gentle nature. He is out of a welsh cob mare so maybe that has something to do with his nature. So far he is the best that she has produced and I wouldn't be affraid to go back to him.

I have one due 31st May 2013 out of traditional Irish vanner. I have ordered a HOY's standard large riding horse. Black filly 2 white socks behind and a small star.

Fingers crossed.
