You need to contact a shipper - they will give you the most up to date advice.
Are you looking to export yourself, or are you planning on having some do it for you? It's so much easier if you have a shipper do it all as they will apply for all the export/import documents and have you arrange all vet checks which may be needed.
Vet check 24hrs before departure, export certificate from DEFRA stating dates of transportation and times of ferry... best talk to DEFRA (if they're called that currently, I get confused!) about it. A friend did this recently to take her horse to Germany with her. If she is going with an international horse transporter they may be able to tell you what you need.
You would be best off contacting a shipping agent who would sort out the paperwork for you. It is not overcomplicated. I can recommend a very good shipping agent if you pm me.
One of my clients is shipping a Shetland pony back to it's owner in France within the next couple of weeks - I see that you're located in Herts, too - I'll speak to her in the morning and ask her for all the details etc.

I can highly recommend Parkers who always advertise in HH. They will sort out everything and advise you on anything that you mayl need to do.

Ditto! I've never had a horse go the other way, however I've used Parkers many times to import horses from Europe. Never had a moments worry with them and each and every time they have been spot-on!
you will then get calls or emails with quotes, and know that you are dealing with reputable transport companies. They will talk you through everything you need
Spoke to client today and asked who was shipping the Shetland pony back to France, She told me it was George Parker, based in Kent, and ship worldwide. Very experienced, Oakley Supreme plus groom. She couldn't recommend them highly enough! They advertise regularly in Horse & Hound. Good luck!
