Shire saddle

MY friend has resued a 18.2hh <big boy shire and has brought him back in to good healthy condition and is starting to ride him again, but she has been riding him with no saddle becuase she cant find any one to fit the bus, does any one know any saddles available for this bus ..?

Well you'll probably have to end up with something specialist

So wow saddle if cash to blow £1,500

Or total contact saddle for Circa £200 (mainscourse can you comment?)

My saddler had been looking for a second hand saddle for me for nearly a year. Eventually I had to buy a Wintec Isobell Werth. Im not a fan of synthetic, but it fits great and as he changes shape I can change the gullet to suit. My lad is just under 18.2hh and still has another 2/3 years to develop

Have a look at the Thorowgood saddles. Shire horses can be wide, but also they often have a wither, so cob type saddles dont fit.

If you are on a budget then the 18" T4 would be worth looking at.

hi another option is from duett (think thats how it is spelt) they specialise in saddles for draft and cobs, they are american based but now have a distibutor in the uk just google and you will find them. i looked into them but this was before i went treeless and also there was no one in the uk. the saddles are leather and are less than 1/2 the price of a wow
