i have a shire x tb, who i have owned for 12 years- just wondering who else has one! and what you do with yours- there doesn't seem to be many of them about in the dressage circuit!

Ginny is 1/2 shire out of heighten,a tb stallion. she's working elementary/medium at home and competing elementary :)

this picture is her at her last competition in December

She's lovely. I don't have a TB X Shire , but a friend did have one many years ago.
She was a well tempered mare about 18 hands high and not put together as well as your horse.
She was well mannered, a very bright bay and perfect for her role as a happy hacker :)

I looked after one for 2 seasons, a hunt horse. She was opinionated and strong but hard as nails, did a full days hunting hounds or whipping in, jumped everything. A good hunter, she was a good ride, I liked her. She was registered to BE but never competed, don't see any reason why she couldn't have but as far as I know she was always a hunt horse.

I have a 3/4 Tb 1/4 Shire mare who evented to Novice, is rather a nifty SJer and is now dressaging with me. She's a lovely girl but it rather shocks people when I tell them she's a Nijinski granddaughter.

We've owned her for four years now and she makes me laugh everyday as she is now 14 and is becoming very bossy and opinionated, this coincides with the first time in her life that she has been the dominant horse - it's also the first time since we've had her that she's been out with a horse bigger than herself - she's not exactly little at 16.3.

mine is also very opinionated! and can be strong is she doesn't want to do something- but extremely quiet all the time! tried my hardest to liven her up but it doesn't happen! there is a dressage rider local to me who competed one up to PSG, which is an achievement if she was anything like mine!

Erin yours is gorgeous!

this one was a happy hacker with my mum since she was 4 until 2 years ago

:)

Sidney is a Shire x TB, he looks very similar to Erin's! He is the sweetest horse in the world, with a lovely temperament. He is suitable for a novice (has had 2 year old on him!), but also a very good competition horse. He would affiliate BSJA, and has done really well at British Dressage (3 1sts, 3 2nds and a 5th, when he was feeling rotten.) He easily qualified for the Regionals at Novice, but had no rider, so didn't get to go there. My instructor, a Grand Prix dressage rider, says he's one in a million, and that the world needs more horses like him!

I hack him out and do some prelim dressage with him. He's soooo calm out (friend says that he is the safest hack she's ever ridden), but can be a bit spooky. For some reason, despite his size, he is terrified of small furry animals and chickens!! He has done wonders for my confidence, and as my first horse, has taught me to ride properly.

Sidney is 16.2hh, and I believe he is by a TB stallion and out of a Shire mare. He was a gipsy horse, born in a car scrap yard, but is happily working at medium/elementary level and instructor believes he is good enough to get to the BD Nationals (I, on the other hand...) He is such a character, incredibly affectionate and loving. I would definitely get another, and if I went into breeding would breed nothing but Shire/TBs! He's my horse of a lifetime :)

My mare is shire x TB. She is 17hh and has a black coat. Her dam is a full shire (18hh) and we believe her sire was Nickel King (a stallion of Mary King's). She has a gentle nature and she is usually very good in general but can be stubborn occasionally and sometimes has a few TB moments!

She often gets admiring comments when out on hacks and is usually one of the biggest horses when she has gone to shows! She doesn't look the same shape and form as the other lovely crosses here, who look slightly lighter but I'll try and post a pic.

Kind of _mines tb x cob x shore but prob about 1/8 th shire! Not sure if any of it shows through but she is quite lazy to school, opinionated and always injures herself which I consider to be typical traits for shire, welsh and tbs :) also loaned a shire x tv who was laid back and had great stamina!

I have a ShirexPBA (sort of counts). Sire is Queens old drum horse, Galway Warrior, the big coloured :) Out of a palomino mare, he's bay, they were disappointed haha...
Done upto Adv-Med in his hay day, also evented and sj'd. Now having a bit of a quieter life at 15/16. He's rather dumb, and a bit rude when he wants to be, but he's kind, gentle and knows his job :)

I used to ride an 18hh shire x tb gelding side saddle. He did, shall we say, know his own mind and could be exciting to ride but knew he had met his match when under SS. He tried to buck me off one day - kept it up for 3 or 4 minutes untill he realised it wasn't having the desired effect and gave up (I think I may have mentioned that one has a very secure seat in SS)! Despite everything he was a very nice natured horse and I enjoyed riding him

Yes my mare is out of a shirexTB dam & a TB stallion... no idea who though.
People are always surprised when we say she's part shire!

Had her 7 years, she's rising 14 & she was my 1st Horse (had ponies before). We haven't done much as i've been at uni for 3 years (horse at home), had to have a year off before that & she came to me rising 7 with the same education as a 4/5year old (never jumped) after having 2 years off!

But more than capable of producing a nice movement (when she can be bothered) & has popped a 3'3" course :D Also a very good doer!

Shame about the rider :p

Ooh! I always thought they'd be chunkier than that.

Do they have any feather?

This gives me hope for my Doris. One day I'd like to breed a sporty version of her. Although she's only 16hh and of unknown breeding so i'm not entirely sure what would come out. My hubby reckons she has a bit of shire in her somewhere.

I have one too, well his mum was half shire, half TB and his dad ID x TB. He is spooky too and Ive been told this can be a common thing with Shire crosses. He is very talented but quirky and Im not good enough to get the best out of him. Anyway, here he is, sorry about the size, I dont know how to make it smaller

I'd quite like this one please! :p (I love selle francais and my current girl is and hoping my next horse will be tb x shire, so this seems like a good mix! :p)

thankyou she is a MW took more after her mum than her dad she has had a couple of foals which were sired by selles and they are more like their dads and much less hair though lucky with my mare as she has a very fine coat

unfortunately we do very little :( Im hoping to get her right again, but the most we'll be able to do now is hack. But we've had fun jumping in the past, and a little dressage
