Has anyone seen the news products shires have been bringing out over the past couple of months?

I stopped buying from them for a while as their products were starting to look a bit cheap and dare I say it tacky. So I started saving for the more expensive makes.

however, at Olympia in the shopping I came across some of their tendon and fetlock boots that look identical to veredus Olympic boots. I bought them as they were a bargain and I’ve been really impressed with them. They are the same quality as veredus just at a much better price point.

over the last few weeks they’ve released the riding hats (think they are called the valentina) that are dupes of the KASK helmets. Then last night I saw a video going round social media of a photoshoot of some aubrion soft shell jackets with the poppers and internal zip like the animo show jackets.

they really seem to have upped their game and are providing the more fashionable products at a much better price point. I’m really tempted to try one of the hats and the show jackets when they come out.

im just curious to see others thoughts on these new products shires are bringing out?

I've been using their Arma Air Motion brushing boots for years. They're fantastic but so hard to find now. I might be looking for some open fronts soon so I'll make sure to give their stuff a look.

I've been really impressed with there stuff recently. I've got some of their summer tops and base layers which are a nice material and fit and like the look of a lot of their other stuff. I've seen the hats and very tempted if i have some spare cash but would want to try one on first.

I have some lovely Aubrion breeches, really like them

Ditto this, they are my favourite breeches! I also love their country boots as they just last and last with very little care.. I had my old pair for 7 years and they were still waterproof when I bought a new pair, they lived outside and were rarely cleaned on the exterior, if at all.

hadn’t thought to try the base layers. I’ll definitely have a look. Luckily there’s a tack shop near me that stocks them so I can see if they fit my head shape!

Actually I also have the long leather riding boots. I wanted a cheap everyday pair that it didn’t really matter if I got muddy or whatever. They were about £100, came in brown which I wanted. Brilliant. Took no breaking In, clean up
Nicely and I’ve had several comments including my boot snob daughter!

Shires is my go to range, and I have one of their aubrion show jackets in navy which is amazing quality. Even my friend said it didn’t look like shires!

I don’t like the jersey jackets so much so decent price and good quality!

I've been using shires things for a while and really like their stuff. They're reasonably priced, always do the job and stand up to hard abuse.

Just had a quick check and Sports Direct have the Arma Air Motion Brushing Boots on reduced at the moment...

https://www.sportsdirect.com/arma-a...xVDHAEw6PKN6rTxoCFggQAvD_BwE#colcode=71704703

Ah yes, but their website doesn't work for me. I'm not sure if it has to do with my country (Germany), but it shouldn't. I enter my email and select proceed to continue to complete the purchase and the page never loads. I just tried it again and have the same issue.

I did manage to find a set elsewhere though.

I have been a fan of shires for years even though they are the cheaper end of the market and have never had a problem with their products - unlike Le Yak - which I can only describe as over priced tatt

Interesting to compare this thread with the one containing outrage about the products that Le Mieux copies...and not saying I don't have similarly conflicted feelings and behaviours in the range of "cheaper versions" to "rip off copies".

I don't know if it's a direct comparison though. So many companies now make vented open front boots. The toy pony thing looked a bit more deliberate and LeMieux had such a sh*t response/attitude about it. Then again, many sides to look at that from.

I do think (and this goes for LeMieux too) there are only so many designs out there and if a certain design is trendy, then it makes sense from a financial perspective to make a spinoff and try to profit off of the current market. I feel like this has been happening for ages.

I've just bought one of the hats - and love it! Great value, sits nicely on my head and doesn't make me look like a complete mushroom! :D:D I know that's a lot to do with my head shape but it was the cheapest I tried and by far the best fit. I got the black glittery one, I'm not a fan of bling but it's really nice just to have a subtle hint of something

Oh I don't disagree but it's a grey area....where do each of us draw the line?
