Ive ordered one today for my ever growing baby from barnstormer.
I bought it because firstly it was only £24.70
And secondly they had the size i wanted (6ft) which seems to have so/d out everywhere else.

Has anyone had or has one of these? What are they like for a cheapy rug?

I have one for my boy. Its a good rug overall but only thing is its quite long. Hes 15.1 and gets away with it but I wouldnt put it on a smaller horse/pony.

ETS: The old style they used to do wasn't too long though but he trashed that attempting to get over a fence!

I've had loads of Shires rugs - despite being well priced they are very good rugs. Lately I've started buying nothing else, they last so long and fit so well (on our good shouldered middleweights).

Well shes 20 mths old and 14.3 n a bit.
She has out grown the shires stormbreaker l/w which was 5'6
She is quite a big built idxcob so im hoping its not going to be too long on her then.
Ive got her a shires med wt stable rug in 6ft n tht fits ok,im hoping this will see her through this autumn and following spring and poss next autumn,im forever buying rugs! Lol!

I have one and i think for the price they're good rugs, mines lasted a while and only ripped when being out with another horse who chewed it. Not the most waterproof thing in the world though and a bit big around the neck but generally well fitting, although maybe too wide for narrower ponies.

I have one, and like you i bought it cos it was cheap as a just in case rug...well its been one the best purchases ive made. Yes its long on him (15,2, but narrow) but actually fits him well - he rolls and it never shifts. Its been totally waterproof, even in torrential rain, and hasnt ripped. I'd defo spend the 25 quid again!

Oh im so pleased with all these good reveiws.
I do like the shores rugs tho, such a good fit on chunkier types.
I just hope its not too long, altho i like them to wrap under the belly a bit when straps are done up.

I have one for my 15hh Welsh and on the bright side it's the only rug that doesn't slip on her but on the downside it's waaaay too long and flaps around. Good quality rug, but just beware that they're a much deeper/more generous cut than many other rugs.

although its a bit long at the front on my 14.1, I couldn't live without it! its lasted from the beginning of the year with not even a scratch, despite my boy being turned out with a nutty thoroughbred!

I brought one last winter for my tb, as my rhino was stolen and needed a replacement ASAP. Brought this time last year so again struggled to get something in his size.

It fitted really well, 100%rain proof, very good value for money.

The only downside, is that is very noisey. The fabric is very stiff.

Good rugs

I have one as it was £20 on sale. My pony is 14hh cob so 5'9 dont give alot of room round the chest so went for 6ft in this one but really could of down sizing as was a bit big for her in all dimensions. but has done its job well .

I think they are fab rugs, I bought one for one of mine, but am going to purchase another for my other boy. I have a 6ft for my 14.2 & it's a lovely fit, my 13.3 is also in 6ft (yes 6ft) because he is so stocky & when I tried it on him it was a nice fit aswell. Def recommend :D

Your 13.3 is 6ft:eek:
God my 15.3 is 6ft and he isn't a slim jim and he's got a good chest space too.

Yes 6ft shocking isn't it, anything smaller doesn't fit round his chest. He is a chunky lad, I have had to have his saddle made for him aswell as he is so hard to fit

This is him in his 6ft shires rug

Mine is in his at mo as he has a trace clip- its OK. Price wise they are good. Quality wise OK- have seen more robust stitching on Fals and Rambos - in terms of waterproofedness- great over the body but the neck leaks like a sieve which was the bit I wanted covered as he has a trace!

I much prefer the lites with a tiny bit of fill like 40g/70g as it seems to help with keeping them waterproff. Overall I would give it a 3/5
