Just after a couple of cheap quick fixes and these seem to fit the bill.

Anyone got rugs from the Tempest range and how does the sizing come up? Big, small, spot on etc?

Thanks in advance.

Brilliant. Good fit, I'd say spot on. I have a few in a couple of weights, on little ponies and a cob, and they are great. Really waterproof too. Great for the money!

Good to hear that OldNag, i'm just after some cheap fill-ins so to speak, their 600d Amigos are like sieves and i don't want to splash out on more 1200d as they will be in their mediums in a couple of wks once re-clipped, the 1200d Amigos hold up well but the 600d are crapola but i've had to go up a size in Amigo for all of them so wanted to make sure the Tempest ones will be normal sized so to speak - LOL!

I'd say it's a very similar fit to the Amigo. So far I am very impressed. My local tack shop tends to do them on special offer so they are even more attractive :D I have 100, 180 and 200g fills (I think some of them are called something different to Tempest? but they are all Shires) , one of them with a neck. All really good.

Ah if similar to Amigo then would I need to go up a size? My littlest pony is 4ft 9 in WeatherBeeta but 5ft in Amigo? He's finely built so most rugs hang round his neck but fit elsewhere.

I have little Welshies, one with a fine neck. The Tempest necks are absolutely fine on her. The 200g fill looks like it's a bit roomy on the neck but she's weatherproof in it. Hope that helps.

Biggun doesn't have much of a neck and again, seems a good fit.

I love shires rugs, they are fab quality for the money. I have a 180g with full neck and the 5'9" fits my 14hh pony perfectly- the necks are just the right length. I also have weatherbeeta landas and they seem much shorter in the neck, even though the rest fits well in the same size. Rugs are so expensive now its great to find genuine good value.

I've got a couple of tempest rugs and love them! The sizing comes up just right and they fit all shapes. I've used a 6'3 rug on a 16hh TB and a 14'2 cob, and it fitted them both really well.

I've just bought 2 for my chunky ID x mare, and I'm very impressed, good sizing and fit, much better than the Masta rugs I've tried on her.

I got a l/w turnout and a l/w stable quilt, turnout with neck, and they all fit very well, I could even possibly go down a size !

YEs, I'd say sizing is spot on too.

BigHorse takes a 7ft - he has lots of 6'9" rugs that are all a bit snug, and the Shires 7ft is slightly generous on him, so that seems about perfect to me (i.e. he's probably actually 6'10.5":D).

He has two of the Tempest Lites.

On the strength of this, his g/f recently got one of the 180g rugs with neck. Again, she's in between a 6'3 and 6'6", - she got a 6'6" Shires and it's a generous fit.

Both horses perfectly dry this week despite being out in the monsoon like rain :) They might be budget rugs, but IMO they outperform much more expensive rugs.
