Can anyone tell me which counties comprise the "hunting Shires", or what towns/villages form the boundary?
(I asked this question on "Yahoo! Answers" but all I got was "Cheshire", so I thought I'd better come where people know what they are talking about!!)
Thank you! :)

I believe the Shires to be the areas of Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire (don't quote me!) because these are the areas that were predominantly grassland hunting areas in the old days. You need something like Baileys Hunting Directory for a question like that I think.

I know what you mean, up in n'land there is an area in hexham nicknamed the "shires". Obviously I knew this wasn't the area that people hunt in because only one hunt hunts this area!

The Shire packs are the Quorn, Belvoir, Fernie and Cottesmore. So the Shires is comprised of the countries of those packs, all 4 centred on Melton Mowbray.
