So Indi coliced last night, he is on week 4 of bos rest out of 12 weeks and I suppose it was bound to happen, He had actually poo'd in his water bucket and I think he must of done it early on in the day and was possibly a little dehydrated!!
So the signes were very minimal, with him being very quiet and shivering even though he wasnt cold, rang the vet and whilst waiting for them took his temprature and it was 39.4!! Indi always generally is bang on 37.5.
Vet arrived and agreed prob colic, did a rectal exam and everything felt fine but opted to tube him with some fluids as he was obviously in some distress and pain with it, tubed him (After sedating him) and gave him some bute intraveniously.
Vet was concerned about the temp as apparently high temps arent normally associated with colic so also gave him a shot of antibiotics, Checked him this morning and he was much brighter (And obviously hungrey from being on half rations last night) Took his temp again this morning and it was 36.3 which is low for many horses.
Any thoughts on what thes temp fluctuations can be?? The vet says to monitor it and dont worry to much as long as he is bright in himself!!
