A friend of mine at the yard has had a horse vetted today & she has emailed me to tell me it has passed vetting, but has got mild shivers in back leg & they not sure what to do now?

The horse is going to be competed affiliated upto about 1.30m

I have heard of it, but no nothing about it so any advice welcome for me to pass on. Thanks :)

If you'd have seen how much my horse was shivering on Monday, I certainly wouldn't write something off as having shivers unless it happened all the time.. In the case of my lad, he just felt really crap, due to being poorly :(

All she said was the vet had passed the horse, but said it had shivers in a back leg, so they not sure what to do as horse isn't cheap. Sorry can't be much help, just thought I would ask as I don't no much about it. I have told her I would talk to the vet in more detail etc if they a worried etc

All the horses that I have known with shivers have got worse as they age. One problem is shoeing and they all ended up unable to have hind shoes put on. It never stopped them from jumping though.

They spoke to the vet again who did say he could possibly need sedating for the farrier, but apart fromt hat it won't effect his performance. They still undecided as what to do, but I told them they can only make that decision.
