Just read this:

"John Whitaker Air Irons have bendy arms and cushioning sole which softens the impact on riders joints and horses back."

What do you think? Do shock absorbing stirrups make a difference to the impact on a horses back?

Will there be an noticeable difference if jumping impressive heights regularly, like the pro's do, but not worth it for the average horse?

It also makes me think of the research showing that treeless saddles often caused sores under the stirrup bars. Would this type of stirrup help?

I think some brand, or brands of treeless may have a poor design, causing sores, but it is not true to say all do.

There are huge differences in quality and function and many different makes.

I suppose shock absorbing stirrups might lessen the effects of pressure on the stirrup bars up to a point but if there is a problem caused by the bar pressure and weight distribution then i don't think they will cure it - maybe just delay the resulting back pain for a while.
