SHOCK! Hobbs Cross closing!!! Livery yard needed!

So got to the yard tonight to find everyone in uproar and a letter pinned to each of our stable doors to say the yard was closing for business (and being turned into industrial units!!) and that we all have to be out by 31st August. 45 horses with no homes!! Really shocked and not sure what to do. Can anyone recommend any yards accessible from London (but not South of the river as can't cope with the traffic

Help please for me and my friends!!
 
oh gosh, what a nightmare!!

not from personal experience, but I have heard good things about a couple of yards just east of chigwell - brownings farm, and bower farm, by havering country park.

what about harolds park farm in nazeing?

What yard are you at? I was in Chingford for 30 years until 3 years ago.

Have you tried Southend Farm in Waltham Cross? Also Bonns Farm out Stapleford Abbotts way? Southend Farm is easy to get to from London as it is only 2 mins off the M25 (J26).
 
What nasty YO's giving you such a limited notice time!!! They must have known this was happening before now surely! Me thinks they didn't want to lose that last month's livery, but giving extra notice!!

When a livery yard I was on decided to close, they gave us 3 months notice, which I thought was a fair time.

Really hope you and your friends get sorted, I know what a shock and horrible feeling it is to face the prospect of your horse being homeless.
 
Oh no! And typical - there are few enough yards as it is in the area and far too many industrial units (but guess which one pays more).

Thanks everyone. I can't believe it - I feel so sorry for the grooms as well because they are losing their horses homes and their livelyhoods

I can't take him to Southend farm because the turnout - he likes to jump out of his field every so often and at Southend farm that would be a 2 min canter away from the M25! Brownings has no vacancies - nor does anywhere else cause there are so many horses and hardly any land - which Hobbs had in abundance. SO frustrating. My horse is so settled there - poor chap. Thanks for the pms - I will answer later cause off to look for yards now

What about Harolds Park Farm, is that too far out? Southend Farm is very near the M25 but he'd have to jump 6ft hedges and trees. Also there are fields that do not go near the motorway. Round by the fishing lakes. Have you been and had a look? I'd at least do that and explain your worry about the motorway. Have you tried the various yards round High Beach? What about Picks Farm or Woodlands? Bury Farm? These are all local to you. Plus there are lots of small private yards round Nazeing. I'm trying to think of them all. Have you been in the tack shops? Janette Moss always had loads on her notice boards.
 
I am shocked - always liked the look of that yard and wouldn't have minded moving my boy there in the future!! Don't know that area very well but will have a think and get back to you if I know of any with vacancies. Good luck x
 
Which areas are you looking at and what type of liveries as there are quite a few in the surrey area but is that too far? Try looking at noticeboards in local tack shops? Good luck

I know they stopped doing shows as it was getting so expensive with insurance etc but they have have kept closing quiet

Don't know if this will help anyone but I'm the only one at the old part of Crystalbrook in Theydon Bois - think 2/3 stables free (2 horse / 1 pony sized) but it's pure DIY only. 1 largish field but not much grass left now (suits me as I have a mega greedy Sec D). Hacking pretty much straight onto the forest but no other facilities.
