How on earth did my 17.1hh horse jmup out over a split stable door with out hurting himself? How did he it through the gap?!?!

He has a 14ft square stable with normal split stable doors, obviously top is always open......he has jumped out.....slight scuff on hooves and scuff on top of door!!

He had a stable full of hay...what come over him to jump out and trot around the yard looking so pleased with himself?!

This horse always does something to amaze me!! Back at home recovering from shock with tea!! I hate tea!!! x

taz does this :o he now has a gap between the door and the door frame that is too small to get anything other then his head through :o come up the yard many a time with him resting his front legs over the door :o

glad he is ok!

hi

i new a horse who had everyone belive he couldnt jump till he jumped out of his stable. he was smaller but they only need the space for his shoulders doesnt he xx:):)

My new horse did that last week!
The doors are 4'9" with a 3'6" gap over the door. And managed to turn in a indooR barn on landing that's only 3m wide. Not bad for a 15hh 3yr old.

No damage ether

my loan mare did this and hung herself up by the stifles. She only got down by absolutely obliterating the door. She had a few cuts and was stiff but nothing too major. The vet couldn't believe she was alive when she saw the state of the door!

My horse did that last year! She's not particularly that big but she scrambled over her stable door. YO didn't even bother to tell me until 4 days after it happened!

Why don't our horses always jump so well...but when we ask!! x Damn horse!! Now he can't be left in a field without a friend...so lives with a chicken and my mare! Chicken is needed for when my mare comes out to be ridden! Jumps out his stable for fun! x Rodeo bucks me when he's in a strop and yawns for ten minutes after i take his bridle off!! Strange animal!!! x

I had a livery who did that! It terrified the life out of me, I was being told off for leaving the field gate open (I had because there were no horses in it) but it turns out she just jumped out of her stable and ran back to her field for some grass. She wasn't alone either (had separation issues), my little shetland was keeping her company outside her stable but unfortunately she never saw him as a horse. It was very impressive considering she was a 14hh very bulky cob! :o

We had a NF pony foal that climbed a 3ft stable door, she was only 12.1hh fully grown. I think mostly they don't jump, just scramble, so it isn't really an indication of jumping ability (unless you saw them do it). She only did it the once.

My old loan pony always used to do this, weave grill had no effect he'd just rear at it until he bent it over the door. would also manage to do it with a wooden bar across the gap, would force himself through an approx 1ft gap!

Be careful off anti weave grids!!! My lad will even do it with a weave grid and seriously hurt himself because off the grid. A pony in his stable with him as sorted him out.

Having a similar problem (well, trying to avoid it!). I need to find a full door grill, but not those with vertical bars but those with 'mesh effect'? Can anyone point me in the right direction??

(tired to make one, but realised that it isn't as strong as it needs to be!)

Used to have an 11.2hh that would do that everytime the other went for a hack! Wondered how it actually cleared the door! Had 1 eye too lol!!

My ginger sausage did it twice at our last yard, but now I am at a proper yard, I realise now that it was little more than a shed in comparison, can't really blame him thinking back, it was because others were being led out.

One of mine did it years ago,14hh NF who was a cracking jumper anyway. He was witnessed jumping clean over the door, his stable was at top of indoor barn
at the very narrowest bit, more like a corridor. God knows how he stopped.... Hated being in & was the fidgety-est beast I've ever known! Had to be in a night in winter as we had limited grazing so we had to put a weaving grill up to prevent a repeat performance.

we had a youngster who jumped the breast bar of our rear-unload rice and was wedged across the front.he was very calm whilst we dismantled the partition.

I was looking for one after my boy jumped out, not scrambled but cleanly jumped. Ride away were the cheapest by about £10-15,

Lucky I didn't have get it as my yo has a stable that has a door with built in bars in, so he's in there. ESP after he was sizing up a barrowed anti weave grill.
